Montana in the Summer

White clouds floating
In a soft summer breeze
You can hear the gentle whisper
As it passes through the trees

There's the misty haze on the hilltop
Cool shadows in the glen
You can hear the song of the meadowlark
And the chirping of a wren

Fields are green with promise
Of the harvest they will bring
Fulfillment to the farmer
For the work he did last spring

Cattle grazing in the grass
That comes up to their knees
And from the fields of clover
Comes the hum of the honey bees

Children on the lakeshore
Build castles in the sand
You can hear the boatman call
As they come in to land

Go travel the wide world over
Then come and be my guest
And I will show you Montana
In her lovely summer dress
